External beauty is a captivating phenomenon!

God, is his creative wisdom, gave humanity the appearance of beauty. It is one of the most awesome gifts that has captivated people generation after generation.

But while physical beauty is a great phenomenon, if taken in isolation it can be extremely dangerous. It needs to be fused well with good character and the grace to succeed.

A number of people have been seriously misled by their beauty in thinking that with it alone they can conquer life and the world. One way or the other, we have all somehow come across someone who likes to compare their lives to others. We have met someone who thinks that because they have a bigger house, an expensive Lamborghini, a Learjet, owns a department store or construction company, have a gorgeous partner therefore somehow that makes them better achievers than the rest of us.

But truth told, beauty isn’t just about having an attractive face, a well-shaped body or owning expensive assets and Jewellery. Beauty proper goes far beyond that. It is more about having a pretty heart, a pretty mind, a pretty soul and most importantly, an encounter with the grace for success!

The girl who might not have the most attractive and swinging waist may possess the biggest heart you need in life. Her accommodative character may change you for the very best. And she might be carrying the grace that you badly need to rise up the ladder!

That guy who doesn’t have a lot of money may in fact have the richest soul you need to stabilise your life. Getting married to him may actually signal the most significant turning point in your life and destiny. He could be having the grace that will catapult you to higher levels

That old lady who barely has any teeth left in her mouth may possess that kingdom royalty and grace needed to turn your life around in seconds. Just by her signature, she can change your life and all your successive generations to come.

Having both external and internal beauty is the most ideal situation any person would wish to have. But where one is not favoured likewise, just concentrate more in beautifying your internal self, and ask God for the grace to succeed.

Generally physical beauty attracts more people towards you, but the moment your true bad habits show up you are bound to lose your inner circle, never to reconnect with them again. You need internal beauty and the grace to succeed!

One classic story stands out in the Bible:
Elimelech and his wife Naomi had two sons. One day Elimelech died, followed later on by their sons, and subsequently leaving behind Naomi and two daughters-in-law; Ruth and Oppah. Naomi was now old, and appeared a spent force to attach to. She then sought to free Ruth and Oppah so that the two could remarry again and move on with their lives.

Oppah accepted the proposal, but Ruth somehow saw beyond the physical beauty and status. She saw the grace for success. So Ruth refused to leave Naomi alone as she boldly declared: “Entreat me not to leave you, or to turn back from following after you; for wherever you go, I will go; and wherever you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God, my God” (Ruth 1:16).

Ruth’s stance did not make sense at that time, but later on her decision proved to be a lifetime masterstroke! Through her continued staying closer to Naomi, she ended up getting married to a wealth magnet called Boaz, and ultimately gave birth to Obed, the grandfather of King David. This puts her into the linage of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world.

“So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife; and when he went in to her, the Lord gave her conception, and she bore a son (Obed)” (Ruth 4:13).

Remember beauty isn’t really much about what is outside, it’s more about what’s inside and the grace that surrounds it!!

May you encounter supernatural grace and favour even when you don’t seem to qualify!!
