Moses easily qualifies into the Hall of Fame of Extraordinary Servants of God. His mandate of liberating Israel from the Egyptian bondage remains possibly the most daunting task ever given to a mortal human being by the Almighty God. Within the circumstances, Moses executed his assignment with distinctive enthusiasm, and accomplished the same before ceding the leadership reigns to Joshua.

But what made Moses such a great leader? Is there anything special that God gave to him? What makes him so different from most of us today?

The answer is very simple: Moses used that which God had already given to him.

When Moses was seeking God’s guidance on the possible questioning that lay ahead surrounding the authenticity of his calling; God simply referred him to use what was in his hand.

Exodus 4:2-3 – “So the LORD said to him, ‘What is that in your hand?’ He said, ‘A rod’. And He said, ‘Cast it on the ground’. So he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it”.

Moses knew that while God had indeed appeared to him in a burning bush, the people who lie ahead were most likely going to dispute his story. They were going to denounce him as a cheat and fraudster trying to impersonate God and his supremacy. His reception was not going to be a smooth sail.

But in the midst of all that, Moses engaged the originator of the assignment: God Himself. And God’s response was simple: I will use that which I have already given you; which was the rod in Moses’ hands.

Many a times people are busy trying to reinvent the will over their lives. They try to copy from relatives, friends and colleagues; but their efforts don’t seem to take off from the ground. They usually end up frustrated, messed up, hurling insults even to God for their failures.

As illustrated through the life of Moses; God has already given each one of us enough armory and ammunition to find our way to the top. You were born gifted. It is that gift that is meant to take you to higher echelons of success and control. There is nothing new that you are going to get. God is already done with you.

What you just need is the stirring up of the gift through laying of hands, and mentorship.

2 Timothy 1:6 – “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands”.

Rise up and stir up the gift. You already have what it takes to take over your mountain of influence.

May God bless you.
