Creating Your Own Happiness – Part 5 | Balance Work With Play

Creating Your Own Happiness – Part 5 | Balance Work With Play

Eating is synonymous with working. Without working, you will have no food on the table.

The Bible clearly tells us: “For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat” – 2 Thessalonians 3:10.
However, as much as we need to work; we have to strike a healthy balance between working and finding time to play.

Working hard without playing will damage your physical body and your relationships. Your health will deteriorate; and sadly all your earnings and savings could be spent on medical bills supporting your badly damaged physique. That is not a good ending.

Playing hard and not working will make you hungry. You will begin to live from other people’s left overs; making you susceptible to their control and manipulation. You will lose respect with your family, friends and colleagues. Again, this is not a good ending.

Creating Your Own Happiness – Part 5 | Balance Work With Play

The best scenario is to strike a balance between the two. Do both but to a reasonable extent.

At home, don’t always be a police officer. Strike a healthy balance between being a disciplinarian of your children and playing with them. Sometimes be a funny guy at home and let your kids jump on your back. Let them pour water on you as you play in the lawn. That will go a long way in shaping a happy lifestyle for you.

Failure to understand this may make you lose any parental connection with your children. Certainly, you will not enjoy life.

We sometimes exert too much pressure on ourselves, and in the process lose the joy and happiness that life throws at us.

In whatever profession you are in; learn to balance between work and play, for the good of yourself and those around you.

Stay blessed.
