God Is Always There For Me – The Story of Missy Franklin

Melissa Jeanette Franklin, commonly known as Missy Franklin; is an American accomplished swimmer; with many international accolades to her name.

God Is Always There For Me – The Story of Missy Franklin

Franklin rose to global super-stardom at the 2012 London Olympics. It was her debut Olympics; at age 17, Franklin won a total of five medals; four of which were gold. She swept the women's backstroke events, winning gold in both the 100-metre and 200-metre backstroke. Her iconic exploits in the 200-metre backstroke still stands as the world record today at a time of 02:04:06 minutes, having smashed the previous world record set by Kirsty Coventry at 2008 Beijing Olympics; at a time of 02:05.24 minutes.

Franklin's successes earned her World Swimmer of the Year and the American Swimmer of the Year awards in 2012; as well as the FINA Swimmer of the Year Award in 2011 and 2012. In total, she has won twenty-seven medals in international competitions: sixteen of those are gold, six silver and five bronze.

Missy Franklin has got this to say: “God is always there for me. I talk with Him before, during and after practice and competitions. I pray to Him for guidance. I thank Him for this talent He has given me, and promise to be a positive role model for young athletes in all sports”.
