Legacy | Living Your Life from the Heart
Life comes in different packages for each and
every one of us. More often than not, we do not control the driving forces that
shape our destinies; particularly during the early years of our lives. What is
considered ordinary by one person can actually be a life-time opportunity and
gift for another person. However, though we do not control these forces, we can
still manage them for the betterment of our future.
In line with our subject matter today; let us take
a look at the life of living from the heart, for the benefit of others. Take
for example; a young boy from an affluent American suburb who has thirty pairs
of snickers for sports use. Because of the affordability of his family, he is
unlikely to wear all of them to full use. One day, he and his parents can just decide
to take five of the pairs and hand them over to five young boys in a famine hit
wonderland. And while chances are very high that the young boy from America and
his family will not remember much of that event after sometime; but the five
boys and their families may remember this event for their lifetime! This is
because that which is considered small by one party may be a lifetime saver for
another!
By whatever means, try to change other people’s
circumstances. There is nothing called small when it comes to helping your
fellow neighbours. That which you think is small may be the only difference
between someone regaining their life or being condemned to death! Living your
life from the heart is one of the most endearing ways to create a permanent
legacy. People that we remember today such as Jairos Jiri, Florence Nightgale,
Mother Teresa, Princess Diana, Grace Mugabe, Strive and Tsitsi Masiyiwa, Bill
and Melinda Gates; all have a permanent legacy of giving from their hearts. They
might have had one or two weakness in their human nature, but their footprints
of remembering others are there for everyone to see.
Against all odds, God had to give his one and only
begotten son; Jesus Christ; to rescue the world from its sinful and destructive
nature. As he plainly says so in John 3:16, that “For God so loved the world….” – which became the springboard and
cornerstone for salvation to humanity. If God lives from the heart of giving,
why not adopt the same in our lives? We are his extension; created in his image
and likeness! Do not be overzealous by considering the fringe benefits that
come out of your gestures. Just learn to live your life from the heart and seal
your permanent legacy.
