Even The Heroes, They Do Cry!

Many times we celebrate our heroes in life for their remarkable achievements.

They inspire us to tackle life's challenges head on. Their stories are highly motivational. They give us the much needed self-belief that when one remains resolute and focused, it is possible to make it in life.

However, once in a while, our revered heroes also turn out to be villains. They also have one or two incidences that can make them cry! This is proof that after all, they still remain human despite all their glittering careers and accolades.
Even The Heroes, They Do Cry!
One such story belongs to the legend Roberto Baggio. On 17 July 1994, Roberto Baggio, Italy's hero at the 1994 World Cup, did everything possible to take the Azzurri to the final where they were meeting the mighty Samba Boys (Brazil) at the Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena, USA. The final went on to reach the penalty shoot-out phase; the lottery tie-breaker for separating teams that have remained at par in both regulation and extra time. Both camps became nervous, obviously knowing the tense atmosphere that surrounds penalty shoot-outs. As the shoot-out went by, Franco Baresi, one of the greatest football defenders of all time, missed his penalty kick for Italy; as well as Daniele Massaro. The defining moment fell on Roberto Baggio, the shinning star for Italy. He lined up to take his decisive penalty which would either keep the Azzurri in the game or crash them out giving the world cup to the Samba Boys. As fate would have it, Roberto Baggio hit his spot-kick over the bar, completely missing the goal area minded by the great Brazilian goalkeeper; Tafarrel. Brazil won the 1994 World Cup 3-2 on spot-kicks.

"It’s the same sense of bitterness as in 1994”, said Roberto Baggio when he sat for an interview with FourFourTwo in 2017. "It hasn’t diminished and I don’t think it will ever go away". Such is the reveberative effects of a single "normal mistake" that was made earlier on; and 23 years later still haunts The Divine Polytail as Baggio is affectionately known.

Even The Heroes, They Do Cry!

The important life lesson here is that:
Every human being is prone to make mistakes. And even the heroes that we adore in our lives, they also do cry one way or another.
